08.10.2023 from David Davies
Hold the road well, good braking in wet or dry, good wear, quiet tyre, reasonably priced.
08.01.2023 from Karl
These are a great tyre at a decent price point, and although the price has been creeping up, I would buy them again. The wet weather handling is especially good and gives real confidence in heavy rain.
10.11.2022 from Will Allen
Very confidence inspiring tyre sadly all four tyres started cracking badly at the base of the tread grove after only two years. I rated Avon tyres very highly in the past but I would never buy the brand again.
24.03.2020 from Ricky
Was warned against this make and model by a friend in kwik fit who said the tyres perish and crack along the tread and I’m aft he was right. I only ignored his advice because they were cheap.

09.02.2023 from Roy Durgan
Very quiet tyres, very smooth comfort.
20.04.2022 from Irving Stewart
The MX5 Mk3 NC is generally regarded by enthusiasts as the worst handling of all the MX5's due to its extra height, weight, and suspension settings but I deliberately selected this particular version for its comfort, power folding roof, and pleasant ride. When first purchased the car was fitted with ridiculously wide [10"] rims shod with obscure American tyres. It handled like a pig, followed every white line, and a matchstick on the road felt like a small boulder. Fortunately I swapped the big wheels, with another enthusiast, and acquired a set of 16" Momo alloys. These wheels were shod with Falken tyres, two of which were almost new and two almost shot. The decision was whether to change tyre brand completely or see how the Falkens fared. The various MX5 Forums showed a wide range of differing views on the best tyres for my MX5, at hugely differing costs, so I decided as an experiment to stick with the with Falkens and subsequently fitted a new pair to the front. At this stage I should add that it has taken me three years to rebuild this MX5, it is probably my last car, and it is very rarely driven to its limits. Whilst I still enjoy a spirited drive around the enticing Welsh and Shropshire roads, and the occasional run to Essex and the South Coast, I gave up thrashing my cars when I retired from the circuits over 50 years ago! Today safety, comfort, and pleasure are my prioroties! Over three years the Falkens have performed well for "budget" tyres. In the dry they behave well, are quiet, and very predictable. In the wet they can be induced to loose grip [especially on the rear] but I have never had the front break away unexpectedly or in a dangerous manner. An over enthusiastic right foot will induce wheelspin when pulling away in the wet, even in town, but the Falkens soon regain traction. In the dry the rear can be induced to "hang out" but I have never had any major concerns about the car swapping ends. Some of the younger members of the MX5 fraternity have told me that [when run at higher pressure] the Falkens behave well on the track but wear quite quickly which is something I have not tried, and will not experience. Compared to the exhorbitant wear rate of far more expensive "leading" tyre brands experienced by my friends [some as low as 12,500miles per set] on far more recent premium cars, I am more than satisfield with the Fakens and will probably, eventually, replace them with the same brand.

Great tyres at a good price. Well Recommended.

These tyres in my rear wheel drive BMW are grippy in the dry, but leave me yearning for more in the wet. The car will "step-out" if I punch it whilst the road is even midly damp. My tracking was done at the same time as having these fitted so that is not a factor. The car will also step out if the road is more greasy looking.

On my second set of these tyres, excellent grip and handling. Good in the wet too
06.10.2023 from Victor
On wet roads, the cornering capability is reduced compared to Bridgestones, however these tyres cost 30% less. All in all, for mixed driving, it’s a great all rounder, especially since it’s very reasonably priced. A decent everyday tyre. We’ll see how long it lasts, but seems promising, so far. Noise level is quite low too.

Continental summer tyres for the warm weather period

When temperatures top 7°C, summer tyres are strongly recommended. The Continental summer tyres guarantee high levels of grip on wet and dry surfaces, thanks to special tread patterns and compounds. With Continental, you are guaranteed to have high driving stability round tight corners, and economical mileage capabilities in warmer temperatures.

The top Continental summer tyres

Continental has developed a range of options to keep the passenger car running smoothly through the summer. The PremiumContact 6 offers exemplary braking in wet conditions and improves mileage through the implementation of Safety Silica compounds. For value for money over luxury, your best option is the ContiEcoContact 5, which minimises fuel consumption whilst maintaining great traction and braking.

The sportier cars will thrive with the SportContact 6, using cutting-edge technology for ultra high performance. ‘Black Chili’ compound maximises traction, while tread design is optimised for supreme handling. If you are more of an SUV person, the Continental summer tyres range is extensive. One highlight is the ContiCrossContact LX 2, offering superb braking on all surfaces and a high level of driving comfort.

The high technology of Continental summer tyres:

  • Black Chili Compound – offers optimal road adhesion even at high speeds, the compound meshes with the roughness of the road.
  • Vectoring technology in the tread provides precision handling via efficient transference of force.
  • Aralon 350 reinforcing material offers maximum braking performance up to 220mph.

Staying safe this summer

The Continental range of summer tyres we sell represent the pinnacle of tyre engineering for the commercial market. You don’t want to cut corners with the safety of you and your family, and tyres that perform in the summer are just as important as the winter ones. Continental means quality, and the summer portfolio will get the very best out of your vehicle in warmer temperatures.

At www.tyre-guru.ie, we like to use all our experience and expertise in the tyre industry to help customers get the right tyre for their vehicle, so please feel free to browse our options and get in touch.
