All season tyres - suitable for all weather conditions
All-season tyres are the perfect combination between summer and winter tyres. All-season tyres impress by their good driving qualities regardless the weather conditions and the road. The specially developed profile of all-season tyres ensures a comfortable drive throughout the whole year. All-season tyres were specifically designed for all weather conditions thus eliminating the need to change the tyres depending on the season. The all-season tyres designed for winter conditions need to have the "M + S" marking (or M & S, MS). Some models may also have the snowflake symbol. M + S tyres with snowflake symbol meet the higher quality standards.
 
Identify the size of your tyre
The exact dimensions of a tyre can be found on the sidewall printed mark. The graphic shows how to read properties and dimensions of the tyre:

SPEED INDEX:
The speed index indicates the maximum speed intended for the tyre. Up to this value, the manufacturer guarantees optimum operation with the appropriate tyre pressure. The maximum speed allowed for this vehicle is given in the vehicle owner's manual; this information can be used to select the appropriate speed index for the tyre. The speed index is the last mark on the sidewall of the tyre.
 
Load Index
Permissible maximum axle load per tyre in kg. To be found in the registration certificate or vehicle registration document or read directly from the tyre (two-digit number). It is permitted to fit a tyre with a higher load index.
 
Driving safety despite puncture
Runflat tyres are puncture-resistant tyres with reinforced sidewalls. This creates the so-called run-flat property. In the event of damage, this allows the vehicle to continue driving up to a distance of approx. 100 km (and even beyond depending on the product) at a maximum speed of 80 km/h, even if the pressure has been completely lost. Run-flat tyres even prevent the tyre rubber from jumping off the rim in the event of a loss of air pressure. A flat tyre is therefore still a flat tyre, but it loses some of its drama. Note: All run-flat tyres are marked with the symbol "RSC" (Runflat System Component) and may only be fitted in vehicles with a functioning air pressure control system!
 
Tyres with increased load capacity
Reinforced tyres are designed for higher loads than normal tyres. They can be identified by the designation 'RF' (reinforced) or also 'XL' or 'Extra Load'. They are used on vans, minibuses, off-road vehicles, etc. However, their mounting alone does not automatically result in higher load capacity but also requires a correspondingly higher air pressure. Furthermore, the load capacity index specified in the vehicle documents continues to apply.
 
Tyres with extra high load capacity
The "C" in the term C tyres stands for "commercial". These tyres are specially designed for commercial vehicles. These can be, for example, lighter trucks, delivery vans, flatbed trucks or panel vans. In other words: vehicles that have to move higher loads at a comparatively lower speed. The multi-ply reinforced C tyres are therefore even more load-bearing than reinforced tyres.
 
Mobility-optimised tyres
A tyre with a sealing layer on the opposite side of the tyre tread. In the event of a puncture (e.g. by a nail), this layer blocks any loss of air, even if the foreign body causing the puncture is still in the tyre. It is not necessary to stop or change the tyres immediately at the roadside.

Hold the road well in all conditions just slightly noisy but not overly so a similar amount to a set of Avon ZZ3 had on a Volkswagen a few years ago would definitely purchase again also we're a good price for all seasons tyre and a good price.

Car now relegated to daughters using it for general use. Fairly rural roads, with. mixed road surfaces. The XL rating of the tyre & tread pattern is good for going up a farm track to where the pony has stable.

4 tyres fitted to a small Kangoo van. They perform well for a slow, tough little van/car that is used for ferrying building materials and going to and from building sites. I don't drive fast or try to push the van beyond it's limits. For this purpose the tyyes are very adequate.

I began using these tires last winter and drove them all over Europe, on both dry and snow-covered roads, including motorways and countryside routes. So far, I have driven approximately 7,000 km on them and have not encountered any issues. They perform reliably on snow, as well as on dry and wet surfaces. The noise level from the tires does not seem to be louder than that of other tires, although this may vary depending on the type of car you drive and its level of quietness. Additionally, the price was reasonable. Therefore, I will definitely consider purchasing these tires again in the future.

The tyres have good performance, of course the UK speed limit of 113km/h does not allow for a better test of the tyres on wet roads.

Tristar all season tyres – high performance on a low budget

Tristar all season tyres come from the South African manufacturer that is offering an increasingly wide palette for motorists. They are still emerging on the global market, but are already making their presence felt with offerings for every category of vehicle. The company has other joint ventures and subsidiaries and is making serious waves in the European market.

The Tristar all season tyre:

The Tristar all season tyre offering is called the Ecopower 4S. It is designed with thriftiness in mind, so comes at a low cost and aims to be fuel efficient all year round. User feedback tells us it provides a comfortable drive, with good safety features and road handling. It comes in a wide range of sizes, and the EU tyre label shows that the wet grip punches well above the tyre’s weight. Certainly one to keep in mind when value for money is a priority.

The Tristar brand currently only offers the one all season tyre for the European market, but it has put a lot of resources into making the Ecopower 4S a powerful addition to your car without the sky-high cost of tyres from some of the bigger brands.

The EU tyre labelling for Tristar all season tyres:

  • The first category on the label is fuel efficiency. It ranks from A to G, with A meaning low rolling resistance and G meaning high. The Ecopower 4S scores an E on this test.
  • The wet grip score comes next, using the same A to G scale. The Ecopower 4S scores a C, which rivals many tyres that come in a far higher price bracket.
  • The noise rating comes out at 69dB, meaning you will get a comfortable, quiet ride when you go for a drive.

Tristar all season tyres show their mettle
